Louth Contemporary Music Society’s next event is Temenos: music in sacred spaces. The Temenos 2009 programme includes a composer portrait of Valentyn Silvestrov with 2 world premiere performances: 5 Sacred Songs for chorus plus 5 new pieces for violin and piano on 24 September 2009. The Hilliard Ensemble have confirmed a performance on 1 Oct.09 with their Arkhangelos programme: James MacMillan, Arvo Pärt, Ivan Moody, Alexander Raskatov and Armenian sacred songs.
The Hilliard Ensemble is one of the world’s foremost male a capella ensembles. Their repertory ranges from the medieval to the modern, to which they bring a unique sound honed by years of performing together. The ensemble consists of David James (countertenor), Rogers Covey-Crump (tenor), Steven Harrold (tenor), and Gordon Jones (baritone).
