Louth Contemporary Music Society presents Cuban Landscapes: The Music of Leo Brouwer.

Louth Contemporary Music Society’s ‘The Gathering’ Festival opens with a wonderful concert featuring the music of Cuba’s foremost composer Leo Brouwer. This concert in An Táin Arts Centre marks Brouwer’s first visit to Ireland. The name Leo Brouwer is familiar to nearly every guitarist as one of the most significant and original voices in the contemporary world of the guitar.

Half a century ago, Brouwer was the favoured guitarist of the leading German composer Hans Werner Henze.

He brings to ‘The Gathering’ a selection of his own pieces, for solo guitar and quartet, music deeply steeped in Cuban traditions. The Gathering will feature a world premiere of Brouwer’s Irish Landscape with Rain.

Musicians will include the incredibly talented Andrey Lebedev, Louth Guitars and Duo Lallement Marques
The visit will also mark Brouwer’s first Irish commission with a new work for 4 guitars: Irish Landscape with Rain.

Funded by the Arts Council, Create Louth, with the friendly support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and RTÉ Supporting the Arts.

Tickets €12 (plus €1.50 booking fee per ticket)
